Segway Ninebot S Review

So Santa brought Jackson the Segway Ninebot S for Christmas and I instantly regret not buying one for my wife and I. This thing is sooooooooo (OMG) oooooooo amazing. I love it. Seriously, click the link and go get one. O, and the helmet. Safety first.

Segway has been around for quite some time, but from what I feel like have been reserved for mall cops and StarTrek conventions…or Mall Cops AT StarTrek Conventions!

Anywhoo, with the increased interest and arguable need, in the personal transportation market, these things will more common than not in the future.

Plus they even have a freaking “hover chair thing” like we saw on Wall-E called the S-Pod. Wired.com states that “The commercial version of the S-Pod is intended for use on closed campuses, like airports, theme parks, or the deck of a luxury space cruiser 800 years in the future. It's billed as intuitive and easy to use. Unlike Segway’s signature transporter, you don’t have to lean forward or backward to make it move. Instead, the rider navigates via a knob on a navigational control panel.” Go check out the full article here. It’s pretty amazing.

Segway says “It’s never been faster and easier to learn a new skill than with the Ninebot S. With our innovative user friendly design, the Ninebot S is a comfortable and convenient ride you can enjoy in no time” and it couldn’t be more true. Jackson, Allison and I were all riding within minutes of stepping on it for the first time. The Ninebot S is road adaptive, sports 10.5” air-filled tires that gives a very smooth ride, 1,600 watts of engine power, has customizable LED tail lights along with super bright driving lamps, 13.7 mile range, tops out at 10 MPH, has a downloadable app that lets you do all kinds of stuff and comes in black and white.

You may be thinking 10 MPH is lame and saying to yourself “I Wanna Go Fast” while wearing your Crystal Gayle shirt like Rick Bobby. I hear ya…did too, but my butt and back and Jacksons…well everything would disagree with you. When you get going on this and start getting to the 8/9 mark (cause you have to try and go as fast as you can the first day/time you ride it), it’s actually kinda scary. It’s just something that is a totally foreign feeling, since for the most part we are all use to being seated when going that fast.

So do your self and your family a favor and get the Ninebot S…its freaking amazing. You’ll also want to get yourself a helmet and always practice safe riding habits.
