Jalapeño Popper Burger
For the most part, if it isn’t spicy then I don’t want it. I love big spice and bold flavors, and with this burger it takes two of my favorite things and combines them…Jalapeño Poppers and Burgers.
Now, you could get all sorts of crazy with this thing, but I stripped it down to the bare bones of it just for a guideline. In the past I’ve done the cream cheese with Smoked Salmon, incorporated cheddar cheese by stuffing the burger itself, adding bacon, etc.
So here’s the base for this guy. It’s only a few things and again it’s crazy simple, but I’ll be making some different variations of it later on and would love it if you’d share your ideas with me as well.
Burger
1 Pound Ground Beef
3 tbsp of Jalapeño seasoning
1/2 tsp Salt
In a large bowl, mix you beef with the seasoning and form your patties.
Moving on to the temps. According to the USDA, ground beef should be cooked to an internal temperature of 160 degrees. All meat will cook after moved from the grill to rest, so taking them off right under under 160 degrees should be ok. Here’s my rule of thumb for my grill and what I go by.
Rare: 2-2 1/2 minutes per side or 4-5 minute total
Medium-Rare: 3 to 3 1/2 minutes per side or 6-7 minutes total
Medium: 4 to 4 1/2 minutes per side or 8-9 minutes total
“Now I have to make this really clear, so please pay attention. The above guideline is for beef only. If you introduce a different form of meat to the blend such as pork, you can not cook anything safely under the guidelines for pork which is around 160 degrease internal. Thats usually 5-7 minutes per side on high heat. So my Oct-o-burger has to be cooked for 6 1/2 minutes per side on high heat or until it reaches an internal temp of 160, due to the bratwurst.”
Set Up
Sliced or pattied Cream Cheese (it’s your life, do your thing kid)
1 to 2 Sliced or whole Blistered Jalapeño’s
2 tbsp Frank’s Red Hot
Buns
In a small bowl add butter and heat instill melted, brush and move buns to grill.
1/2 stick of butter
Brioche buttered and grilled
Besides the usual suspects in this dish, you’ll need this to really make the burger patty itself stand out. Just like all of my other dishes, each component of the dish should be able to stand on it’s own. But when you add it all together it’s like having a Michael Bay movie happen in your mouth.
There ya go! It’s done. This burger is one of the easiest burgers to do and just this simple bare bones recipe will get you started on your quest for the ultimate Jalapeño Popper Burger.
If you make this burger, I’d love to hear from you and see how you liked it. Again…this is the bare bones recipe, so adding things will really make it stand out.
