Frank Martin Gilligan Photo Shoot

You may or may not know, but my dad co-wrote a little tune back in the day called “If You’re Gonna Play In Texas You Gotta Have a Fiddle In the Band” for the band Alabama...I don’t think much ever happened with it though...

He wrote and co-wrote a ton of other songs and also managed some great acts as well.  One of those acts was Mason Dixon.  We had this gigantic painting in our house that was painted for a song he wrote called “Homegrown.” I loved that song and the painting was incredible. There was this old tire swing hanging off of a tree branch, looking out over a lake with the most beautiful blue/green water.

Fast forward thirty some years and I’m driving around one day when I get a voicemail from Frank Martin Gilligan, a member of Mason Dixon.  I had to laugh because he asked me if I remembered him.  Now, Frank is not your typical human so forgetting someone like that would be almost impossible.  With his larger than life appearance, fantastic beard, calm demeanor and soothing voice, you just want to hug the guy.  So I did...I came up a little past his waist. He said that he was getting ready to start a new project and needed some photos for it. One, I was honored that he thought of me and two, I was just excited to see him again.

Make sure to go check out his new single and download his songs.  If you happen to be in an area where he’s playing, stop in.  He’s great. Much love brother, it was fantastic working with you and getting to see you again.

As always the equipment I used for the shoot is listed below.
